It seems to last for hours, punctured by some laughably bad conversations between CG wolves who see the baby as a threat, although the bigger danger would appear to be the devolution of their special effects, and horrendous mugging by the Cullen family (particularly Jackson Rathbone’s bizarre Jasper), still crippled by the least flattering wigs in human history. The entire second act is like a particularly overwrought soap opera - an impression not helped by some of the worst incidental scoring you’ll hear outside porn - as everyone tries to persuade Bella to end the pregnancy that risks killing her and she determines to brave the danger. Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, meanwhile, have never been better in these roles, the latter leavening his grimaces with much-needed sarcasm and the former relishing the flaws in the romantic ideal.īut the problems are insurmountable.

Twilight breaking dawn part 1 full movie youtube series#
The wedding scene manages to inject some humour into a series that’s often po-faced, these lighter moments largely thanks to the chronically underused Anna Kendrick and Billy Burke, and Bella (Kristen Stewart) shows some amusingly human insecurities on her wedding night. For the tiny group of people in the middle, this starts strong, takes a turn for the weird and occasionally veers into the ludicrous. Haters, meanwhile, will hate more violently than ever given the heightened emotional pitch and endless hand-wringing. Twi-hards will more-or-less enjoy this fiercely faithful adaptation of the first half of the final book, which lavishes screen time on their favourite characters and wallows in melodrama. The Brad Pitt crime thriller Cogan's Trade, the Mark Wahlberg-Russell Crowe crime noir Broken City and the Gerard Butler and Matthew McConaughey wartime thriller Thunder Run are just three examples of other numerous indie projects that have had the appeal to entice A-list talent. It's Howard's first non-studio project in more than a quarter of a century. In February Ron Howard will start shooting Rush, a drama about the rivalry between 1970s Formula 1 titans James Hunt and Niki Lauda based on a screenplay by the ubiquitous Peter Morgan. We've seen more of this in the past 12 months or so. When a well-structured indie project goes to market it can attract the best film-making talent. It's their belief that producers have unrealistic budget expectations and they've worked hard over the past couple of years to educate their partners in this area. Once budgets spiral, problems can arise and sales agents – the men and women charged with selling distribution rights to international buyers before the movie is completed as a way of raising production funds – have played a part in keeping costs down. Commercial screenplays (regardless what one might think of the story or genre) backed by smart producers and sales agents with links to capital can draw top-notch talent, but the projects must be commercially sound and need to get made for a reasonable price.

Twilight continues to be a great endorsement of the independent sector. Part 2 comes out in late 2012 and I'd say there's a strong chance the series will cross $3bn. The $144m international weekend launch puts worldwide ticket sales over the first five days at $283.5m and pushes the Twilight franchise past $2bn in worldwide ticket sales. This is the fifth-biggest opening weekend in Hollywood history, ranking one place behind New Moon's $142.8m. Bella, Edward and Jacob crushed the North American opposition as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 took an estimated $139.5m in its opening weekend.
